About a year ago, I remember seeing photos on Instagram from an all white party. I quickly did my research, and found out the next event would be in San Francisco. It's called Le Diner en Blanc hosted by Handmade Events ... a Pop Up dinner where thousands are dressed in elegance white attire and enjoy the company of others while drinking and eating appetizers.
Luckily, I had the best girls to go with along and with our husbands. Even before the event, its already an adventure because you are told they will only provide tables, chairs and entertainment. Therefore, the attendee must bring everything from linens to decor to food. Two hours before the event begins, you get an email to let you know the location of the event. Its quite thrilling actually because you want to be in city ready to drive on over and find parking. Did I mention it was in San Francisco so finding parking is not easy!
Among the 4 of us, we pitched in to bring different items for the table as well as the food. I brought 2 cold dishes that were easy to prepare and I wanted to share it with you. Click on the links to get the recipe...
My friend Ismerai did most of the table decor and she'll have all the details. As the night went on, it got a little bit chili and the fog came in. Or as most San Francisicans call it "Karl the Fog." Even with Karl crashing our party, it still turned out to be a great night. One of my favorite memories is all 8 of us huddling around a heat lamp laughing the night away.
Here are some things to keep in mind when attending...
- come all in white (although off white is still accepted too) including a coat
- white linens / linen napkins
- real plates, utensils, glasses and any serving platters/spoons
- table decor
- beverages / coffee
- food
- cleaning supplies (trash bag, ziploc bags, wipes, paper towels)
- flats
- a small wagon or cart to carry all your items
