We are a family that loves to travel. When Adam and I were single we each enjoyed traveling and getting to know different foods and cultures. So it only makes sense to take our kids along in our adventures. It's not always easy but we've learned a thing or two on traveling with our boys. Every trip we take they are older and it makes it more easier.
On November 2015 we went to Cancun and we had a great time because there were so many activities to do with the kids. A tip my friend gave me when traveling for more than 5 days was to find out if your hotel has laundry service. Luckily, our first hotel did and I was able to pack for 5 days and wash.
My husband divided our trip into 2 sections because we had 10 days and didn't want to be squeezing too many activities like we normally do. The first 5 days we were in a small town called, Playa Mujeres (20 mins north from Cancun) in a resort called Villa Del Palmar Cancun. Here we enjoyed the resort and took advantage of all its amenities. Obviously, the pools were our main activity every day and they even had kid activities like scavenger hunts, ceramic painting and more. Totally worth the stay!
We checked out on day 5 and went 1.5 hours south to Playa del Carmen. We stayed in Hotel Cacao which is a small boutique hotel downtown and walking distance to the beach and the small shops.
On one of the days we went the little pueblo of Tulum. A beautiful quaint town with historical Mayan ruins and small beaches. We relaxed in Playa Maya and had lunch and dinner while the boys had hours of fun on the beach. Also Adam surprised me with a massage that ended my day feeling so relaxed. #happywife lol.
Highlight of the entire trip was going to Xcaret. It's a park filled with so much Mexican Culture. It has so many attractions for all ages. Our favorite attraction was swimming in cenotes (underground rivers) as a family. It took about an hour and for the most part, the boys did great. Judah got a bit tired towards the end so I had to start swimming like a fish to get him out. hehe. We ate at one of the seven buffets they offered and it did not disappoint. I mean, they had every kind of mexican dish you could think of. But one of my all time favorite sides are platanos fritos and they had them. Yum! We stayed til night time to see the special presentation of " Xcaret Mexico Espectacular" a show that takes you through the history of Mexico. I'll say one thing, Adam and I left feeling so proud to be Mexican like never before. It's definitely a place to visit when you go to Cancun.
I would recommend renting a car when you have kids. It makes it more easier to haul all the day bags, stroller, etc. Renting cars is very inexpensive, ours was $25 a day with taxes and insurance. Feel free to leave me any questions if you are planning a trip soon, I'd be happy to chat with you.
