It’s been 8 weeks since we’ve been in quarantine and looking back I can say that overall it has gone OKAY… not great but not bad either. I always try to think of how much worse the situation can be to stop me from complaining. I can’t be the only one that has gotten frustrated at one point or another. In my case, homeschooling my 2 boys plus trying to give Thalia my attention has been my number ONE challenge. There are some days where I am doing so good juggling it all…the kids are cooperating, we even manage to do a few art projects (my fave), and thanks to Pinterest I have tried new recipes. But then, I have the days where one if not all three of my kids are having meltdowns and I end up yelling all day which then causes my attitude to change and well… you know how that can get in a marriage right?!
Last week, I shared a few things that have been in my heart about how I have been dealing with the changes in my life. Although change can be challenging, I have established a semi-routine with the help of a few key points I’d like to share with you.
GIVE YOURSELF GRACE
Being at home with the people you love can get challenging. Often times you’ll lose your patience and find anything they do annoying. I mean we are all human and have our limits right? Give yourself permission to relax! Try to find ways to step away from the chaos by staying up later or waking to earlier just to enjoy some alone time! Thanks to social media, I catch myself comparing my life with others and it ends up inspiring me to do more which then leads me to Pinterest to find new crafts and recipes. Although trying new things is usually something that I enjoy doing, I shouldn’t feel like I should be doing the most because the reality is I can’t do it all right now.
DON’T LET FEAR TAKE OVER
If the enemy can keep us in the state of feeling overwhelmed with work or with your kids then fear, anxiety and depression will take over our lives and it becomes a heavy burden that carries over into our daily life with our loved ones. The enemy would much rather have us focused on the fear of the UNKNOWN so that we cannot focus on HIM it all. God will tell us what we need to know when we need to know it.
“But when he, the spirit of truth comes he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.” John 16:13
FIND CREATIVE WAYS TO PRAY
Before quarantine, I feel like many of us had our routine of spending time with God. For me, it was during Thalia’s first naptime. I’d sit down with my coffee and work on my bible study in a quiet setting. But now our lives have changed and it seems like we have more things to do at home. Endless laundry, dishes and non-stop meals to cook. I have found created ways to talk to God by writing verses on my mirrors to be reminded of Him, having worship music being our soundtrack in this season, and while making my bed. He hears you no matter where you are, just talk to Him.
PHONE A FRIEND
God didn’t create us to do life alone but to lean on each other. I really want to encourage everyone to reach out to someone. It could be as simple as a text asking “how are you doing” or if you can there are other ways such as making a meal for them or dropping off groceries to a family in need. We are all going through similar or different situations but all stressful in their own ways. Let us all make it a point to reach out to someone and let them know that you are thinking of them.
Remember, that this too shall pass!!!!!!
